WHO WE ARE
~WINGING CAT RESCUE~ is a licensed Rescue in the State of Georgia..
Our short
term Goals: As a licensed rescue, our mission is to save Cats and Kittens from DeathRow, place in Foster care for adoption,
and to transport to No-Kill Shelters or Cat Sanctuaries. In 2006 we rescued over 600 Cats & kittens, over 700 in 2007,
and over 600 so far for 2008! Also for 2008 we have funded 327 spays and 252 neuters to date this year for rescued cats (not
to mention vax, combo tests, etc). We have also funded 35 free spay vouchers, 29 half off spay vouchers, 19 free neuter vouchers
and 26 half off neuter vouchers for a total of 109 s/n vouchers. These vouchers are offered as an incentive to local families
to increase adoptions at the shelter!
Although we are a network of internet based volunteers located nationwide, we have focused
on (but not exlusive to) an Animal Control Pound in Griffin, Georgia. This pound uses inhumane Gas Chambers as their method
of "euthanasia". We hope to see the day when Gas Chambers are eradicated.
Our Long Term Goals: The Cat population explosion
is of epidemic proportions. We are hoping to increase public awareness of this problem and we have already implemented a low-cost
Spay/Neuter Program for area residents of Spalding County as well as FREE S/N vouchers to those who adopt directly from Spalding
A.C. We have also established a Medical Fund to provide initial Vax to the Cats & Kittens while they are still in Spalding
Animal Control. We have already seen the benefits of this program. It has greatly reduced the outbreak of distemper and other
diseases. This not only benefits the Cats themselves, but also Spalding County Residents who can be more confident about the
health of the cat they are adopting.
All these programs are 100% supported by donations.
